The usefulness of web-based technologies is sometimes overlooked. This entry aims to show how the creative use of simple web technologies can have practical solutions to real-world problems. It will cover how the use of HTML, Javascript, PHP, and MySQL was used to create a money-saving and stress-saving mobile ticketing system solution for a local student-operated non-profit fundraiser event: The 2012 FSU Krispy Kreme Challenge. The web-based ticketing system analyzed registrant-information stored in a database to calculate and display vital logistical statistics for the event managers, along with generating tickets and checking-in participants.
Creative use of web application technologies to create a ticketing system that registers participants, generates a ticket (for print or mobile-formatted), and checks-in participants. The entire ticketing process, from registration to check-in, can be a completely paperless experience for both the patron and administrator thanks to mobile technology.
